Jimmy signed up with Salsa Records in 1976 to recorded a salsa LP. During the planning stages Bobby Marin began hearing about "disco" music and decided with Jimmy to produce half of the album in disco and the other half with ballads. They used Chico Mendoza, Louie Ramirez and Mauricio Smith as arrangers. "To Be With You" disco version was a hit throughout the east coast. Marin was fired because he didn't record a Salsa album.
